Mothers, “The Matriarchs In vista of Islam & Science”

No language can express the power, and beauty, and heroism, and majesty of a mother's love. It shrinks not where man cowers, and grows stronger where man faints, and over wastes of worldly fortunes sends the radiance of its quenchless fidelity like a star.
(Edwin Hubbell Chapin)

Mother is a female parent in a dictionary but in reality, she is more than just a parent. She is child's best friend. A mother is someone whose love is unconditional, like angels in disguise sent from above to help a child in troublesome times. They may seem just an ordinary people, but they are really superheroes in disguise showing their love in a million ways every day.
For a mother a child is a source of great joy & delight; they make life sweet; bring more rizq & she sees hope, consolation in them which all rest on the good upbringing of the child, so he becomes an active & constructive element in society, a source of goodness for parents & community as a whole. If his education & upbringing is neglected, he will become a bad character, a burden on the family, & society.

In The Eyes of Islam:

Islam is the religion of peace & endearment so it promotes love & compassion in all dimension of life. Islam not only gives respect to elders but to younger's as well when it says a child to Adour, obey & respect a mother it directs a mother too to give all her warmth & affection to her child if one goes through the seerah of Prophet (S.A.W.W) he will find many examples of how Prophet (S.A.W.W) admire & educate children. The Prophet (S.A.W.W) showed great compassion & love towards children as He said:
"He is not one of us who does not show compassion to our little ones and recognize the rights of our elders."
The Prophet (S.A.W.W) praised the women of Quraysh because they were the most compassionate towards their children, most concerned in raising them properly & making sacrifices for them.
"The women of Quraysh are the best women ever to ride camels."(Bukhaari)
Mother is the first teacher & the best also, therefore, Islam puts great responsibility on mothers in fostering the child & adjure on how to assist a child in positive way & a parent not doing this is consider as a failure
Islam commands to adore & love children & have mercy on them as The Prophet (S.A.W.W) said: "He who does not show mercy will not be shown mercy."
It instructs to protect a child from all evils around either physical or social
"Oo you who believe! Save yourselves & your families from a Fire whose fuel is Men & Stones." [Quran 66:6]
Hades: "Each of you is a shepherd and each of you is responsible for his flock.
It emphasizes to give good education to child both Islamic and academic & allow them to be strict if needed
Hades: "Instruct your children to pray when they are seven & hit them if they do not do so when they are ten.
It teaches to put equality among children's & forbids to pray against a child as Narrated by Jabir the Prophet(S.A.W.W) said:
"Do not pray against yourselves, or against your children, or against your wealth, in case you say such words at a time when Allah will answer your prayer."
In the guidance of Islam a mother uses best methods in boosting a child; as she understands their psychology, behavioral, emotional & intellectual development during childhood & adolescence. She is alert to everything that may have an influence on them & keeps her eyes open & knows all about their hobbies, activities & their friend's if she finds anything objectionable in it, She hastens to correct them in a gentle wise way.
Muslim woman treats all her children fairly & equally, she endears herself to them so that they are open to her to share their feelings. She demonstrates all her fondness & attachment for them. She nor prefers one child over another in any way, as she ken's that Islam forbids such actions & its negative psychological impact on the child neither she prays against them. I do not think that a mother who has truly sought the enlightenment of Islam would be stern towards her child or treat in a mean fashion, even if it is her nature.
Leave the religion for a while if you have a logical brain then science is a cue. Science has now certified many Scientific justifications that how a mother's warmth and tenderness effects a child's whole Physiology and Psychology.
Science of Parent Attachment
"Attachment parenting" is an approach to intend strong, secure attachments between parent & child. It is the key to making child physically & mentally fit. Mother-child bonding is a complex physiological process that enlists not just hearts, brains, hormones, nerves but almost every body part it is also vital in making a great person. Mothers are just Coal & Ice in rearing a baby, it all depends on a mother how she makes an ideal person out of a child.
Mother-Baby Bonding: A close attachment can prevent diseases, boost immunity, and enhance IQ in baby, (Deepak Chopra, M.D)
Magical Mother Kiss & Miraculous Voice:  A/c to research a mother kiss really protects a baby, she samples pathogens on baby's face, & transmit antigen via breast.
Even Her voice is that much starling that it lowers child's stress & mollifies them.
In a study researchers created stress scenario in children & tried to relax them, divided into 3 groups, one comforted by physical contact with mothers, other by phone calls from their moms & third by watching a movie. They found that Oxytocin rose to similar levels in the first two groups but did not increase in the third, & cortisol faded.
Breastfeeding & Immunity: Breastfeeding conveys immune factors for cold, flu, allergy and confers all sorts of immune system and even protect against HIV
Co-Sleep: Co-sleeping babies grow up with a higher self-esteem, less anxiety, become independent sooner, are better behaved in school, plus they have lower rates of sudden deaths & also have less psychiatric problems.
Skin to Skin Contact/ Kangaroo care: For premature babies, skin-to-skin contact with a mother improves health; lower the rate of allergies, eczema, asthma, & auto-immune diseases.
In the study, children of nurturing mothers had hippocampal volumes 10% larger than children, whose mothers were not as nurturing.
Studies have found that daily kangaroo care can help Child gain weight faster, be more resistant to infections and hypothermia, and experience less pain during uncomfortable procedures as compared to strictly keeping premature babies in an incubator.

History Is The Corroboration:

If we look at history it is full of great women effort behind every successful child especially Muslim woman has a brilliant record in producing & influencing great men. For example,
Abdullah, Al-Mundhir &`Urwah, the sons of al-Zubayr were the products of the values instilled in them by their mother, Asma' bint Abi Bakr, each of them made his mark in history and attained a high status.
Ali ibn Abi Talib (R.A) received wisdom, virtue and good character from his distinguished mother, Fatimah bint Asad.
Mu`awiyah ibn Abi Sufyan(R.A) inherited his strength of character and intelligence from his mother, Hind bint `Utbah, not from his father.
There are many such examples of brilliant women in our history, women who instilled in their son's nobility of character & the seeds of greatness & women who stood behind them for everything they achieved.
The home is a microcosm of society in which the child's mentality, intellect, attitude & inclination is formed.  And it's Mother whose love, emotion & care can change the whole picture. Sensitive, responsive parenting leads kids to form secure attachments, & securely attached kids are healthier, happier & wiser
Hence it is quite clear that the mothers are vital in bringing up the child properly & forming their characters in a sound fashion, in the light of Islamic & scientific perspectives.
The successful upbringing of the child depends on a mother who is alert, intelligent, & understands her responsibility towards her child, She intervenes when necessary, either to encourage or to put a stop to something, & introduce good behavior & attitude in them.

According to poet;
"The mother is a school: if you prepare her properly, you will prepare an entire people of good character."
